Hermeneutics Week 1

Week 1 of BIBL201 introduces the course by asking why biblical interpretation matters. In this lesson, we look at how bad exegesis shows up in common uses of Scripture, walk through the course schedule and final project, and begin building a framework for reading the Bible faithfully.

Assignment: ½–1 page reflection answering Write a short reflection answering the following questions:

o  Why does biblical interpretation matter for the life of the church?

o  What are some dangers of careless Bible reading?

o  How could faithful Bible study strengthen discipleship, worship, parenting, evangelism, or church life?

o  What is one area where you personally want to grow as a student of Scripture?
