No more fence-sitting for Bradford |

BALTIMORE (BP)--Major league pitchers are always looking for an edge, but Baltimore Orioles reliever Chad Bradford possesses an ability that his teammates, quite frankly, don’t care to learn. Bradford is one of the best submariners in the game.
“I think I’d hurt myself trying to do that,” fellow Orioles reliever Matt Albers said. “But it’s definitely fun to watch. It obviously gives the hitter a very different look.”
While they might not exactly be baseball’s vaudeville act, submariners (pitchers with an unusual sidearm motion) are easily one of the game’s most bizarre delights. There are actually more out there than you might think. In fact, the Milwaukee Brewers tried out three sidewinders – all left-handed – in spring training. |
